Goulburn Valley Equine Hospital (GVEH) is seeking to appoint an equine surgeon for commencement in the position as soon as possible. We are looking for a team player who is willing to join our dedicated group of multidisciplinary equine veterinarians in an exciting workplace with ample future development possibilities. The position could be seasonal but for the right candidate wishing to relocate more permanently, a longer term appointment to the position is the preferred.
GVEH, located just outside of Shepparton, Victoria, is widely regarded as one of Australia’s pre-eminent equine veterinary practices, and provides a wide range of first opinion and referral services. GVEH is currently the only equine referral hospital in the state of Victoria that has on staff, specialists from different specialities (surgery, reproduction, dentistry, internal medicine and ECC), and that offers availability of surgery and medicine specialists around the clock. Current imaging modalities available on site are digital radiographs, ultrasonography and scintigraphy, and we are currently actively exploring possibilities to acquire further advanced imaging modalities.
Teaching is a central aspect at GVEH, as residency programs, internships, and visiting externships take place. The equine rotation of final year Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) program students from the Melbourne Veterinary School, Faculty of Science, The University of Melbourne takes places at GVEH. This partnership between GVEH and the university allows The University of Melbourne to provide an exciting opportunity to deliver an exceptional practice experience to students.
The City of Shepparton is located in Central Victoria in an area known as the Goulburn Valley, an easy two-hour drive from the City of Melbourne. GVEH is located on the outskirts of Shepparton in a semi-rural setting. Shepparton provides all common facilities for you and your potential family (health, education, sports, shopping, dining, entertainment, etc). The Goulburn Valley is a hub for smaller farming communities, mainly dairy and mixed animal farms with some cropping with a significant industry in the area being fruit growing. The climate provides year-round variety ranging from crisp winter days to warm summer days. The nearby Goulburn Valley river offers many water related activities and the region provides for the real Australian life style.
Salary: An attractive salary package commensurate with experience including relocation contribution, time in lieu, CPD allowance and legislative superannuation contributions.
