Diplomates interested in serving as a Small Animal Soft Tissue Surgery European Associate Editor of Veterinary Surgery are invited to submit a short statement of interest and Curriculum Vitae with relevant experience to [email protected] by April 30, 2024. Application review will start on April 30 and will continue until a suitable candidate has been identified and confirmed by the ECVS & ACVS Boards of Regents.
This position will be responsible for shared management of small animal submissions related to soft tissue surgery, including assigning reviewers, synthesizing reviewer comments, providing editorial comments about the manuscript, and making a recommendation to the Editor-in-Chief on the suitability of submissions for publication. Associate editors typically handle 40–60 manuscripts/year (original submissions and revisions), with an estimated commitment of two–four hours/manuscript. Associate editors receive an annual stipend. The position has a three-year, renewable term.
Requirements:
- Must be a Diplomate of the European College Veterinary Surgeons
- Must be familiar with the current scientific literature in small animal surgery
- Must be fluent in scientific English, substantiated by a strong publication track record
- Must be committed and able to attend the needs of the journal in a timely fashion
- Must attend the annual editors meeting (virtual) and participate in email discussions/conference calls during the year
Preference will be given to Diplomates of at least five years standing who have had previous service on the Editorial Review Board or other peer-review and/or editorial experience.
