Small animal

Expires: 16-05-2024

Hamilton Specialist Referrals, High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire. , United Kingdom

Exciting Opportunity for a Veterinary Internship!

We are proud to announce that we are now inviting applications for a Small Animal Surgery Intern. This role is the perfect opportunity to work collaboratively with our highly experienced Surgical Diplomates and expand your skills, knowledge, and experience. This internship would be best suited to someone looking to pursue a Surgical Residency in the near future.

Active involvement in client communication and patient care is expected, as you will work with your supervising clinician to participate effectively in all aspects of planning, diagnosis, and treatment of cases. Animal welfare and the ethics of interventions must be considered by balancing practical and financial factors when determining appropriate patient care. Therefore, the ability to apply prior knowledge and experience to maintain the high clinical standards expected within our hospitals is essential.

You will openly engage in case discussions with the senior supervising clinicians, residents and nursing team and should contribute to a positive, informative, respectful, and inclusive environment for all.

This is a 12-month internship, due to start beginning of July 2024.

What Sets Our Hospital Apart?

Situated just outside of High Wycombe (J4, M40), Buckinghamshire, Hamilton Specialist Referrals (HSR) is a purpose-built, state-of-the-art veterinary hospital that provides the latest in cutting-edge, specialist treatments for cats and dogs, supported by an exceptional rehabilitation and physiotherapy facility. Our hospital has seen significant growth within our team, services, and facilities since we opened, and are currently undergoing further expansion. Our latest expansion will provide us with a fourth soft tissue theatre with fluoroscopy, a dedicated endoscopy suite, a triage/medicine room, a high dependency unit and oxygen facilities.

HSR has the latest technologies to assist in the diagnosis and treatment of any form of orthopaedic disease or injury. There is a 1.5T high-field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) and computerised tomography (CT) suite on-site, and the hospital has invested in the latest direct digital radiography systems (also known as radiographs or X-rays) (DR). We routinely use computerised gait analysis to aid in the diagnosis of complex multi-limb lameness and employ the same technology to monitor recovery from surgery. This individual approach to post-operative rehabilitation optimises outcomes and shortens recovery times. Despite working within such a large team, we pride ourselves on maintaining a friendly and supportive culture with a focus on development, clinical excellence, and gold standard patient care.

Our dedicated team has recently introduced a state-of-the-art HDU unit, a remarkable addition that significantly elevates the level of care and support we can offer to our valued patients. This exciting enhancement is a testament to our steadfast commitment to their well-being and recovery. With cutting-edge technology and a compassionate approach, we are setting new standards in patient care excellence. Our new facility is staffed with a dedicated team, whose primary focus is to cater for all our patient's specific needs.

The Team You’ll be Joining

Our core ethos here at HSR is based on an appreciation of our staff. Curating and developing a friendly, close-knit team is a central part of our working environment. Further qualifications and certificates are encouraged and fully supported as we feel strongly about our employees' right to enjoy work and develop rewarding careers.

We have a dedicated team of over 100 people, including 11 specialists, 2 ECC vets, 2 residents, 26 RVNs and various support teams.
